TUPELO, Miss. – It was a record-shattering evening inside the Tupelo Aquatic Center as Millsaps men's swimming and diving fifth-year senior
Bryan Sullivan posted an incredible time in the 50-yard freestyle, during Day One of the Rhodes Invitational on Friday.
Sullivan swam the event in 20.25 seconds, establishing a new Southern Athletic Association record and setting the top time across NCAA Division III early into the season.
The Jackson, Miss., native eclipsed the previous SAA mark of 20.63 set by Berry's Graydon McCrite in 2014. Sullivan also bettered the nation's best time of 20.28 set by Chris Schiavone of Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 30.
Sullivan's time of 20.25 currently ranks 65th overall across all NCAA classifications.
A graduate of Jackson Prep, Sullivan also teamed up with
Breydon Conner,
Anthony Werner and
Jack Sewell to better the school record in the men's 200-yard medley relay. The quartet swam in 1:42.53, besting the old time by four seconds.
On the women's side, freshman
