ATLANTA – Millsaps softball sophomore pitcher Hannah Derouen could not be stopped in the circle in the Majors' 5-0 win against Centenary College on Friday. Her efforts were recognized across the conference as she was tabbed the SAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.   

The Lake Charles, La., product tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout Arnaudville, La. She fanned six batters while only walking three hitters in seven innings of work.

Millsaps would score a run in the opening inning and that is all Derouen needed to capture the win. The Majors would add insurance in the sixth and seventh to provide breathing room late.

This is the second time the Neuroscience major has been recognized as Player of the Week. She was last named SAA Softball Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 24, 2020 during her rookie campaign. Over three games at the Millsaps College Invitational, she pitched 18 innings, posted a 1.17 ERA and struck out 18 batters to earn league-wide recognition.

As a freshman, Derouen led the team with six wins in an abbreviated season and struck out 27 batters total in 41.1 innings of work.

Millsaps next opens its home calendar against Hendrix for a four-game series, March 6-7. Both days will feature doubleheaders that will begin at 12 p.m. CT. Live stats and live video will be available on the softball schedule page at gomajors.com.
