CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps men's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 SAA) defeated Hendrix College (0-3, 0-2 SAA) by a score of 1-0 to claim their first victory of the season on Saturday.
Both teams were fairly even across the stat sheet with the Majors recording four of their 14 shot attempts on target. The Warriors also tallied four of their 17 shots on target. Freshman
Wilkins Dowdy registered four saves for Millsaps.
The Majors produced more corner kicks (9-6) and posted less fouls (6-9).
The lone goal of the game came from junior forward
Sergey Kolesnik at 15 yards out courtesy of an assist by sophomore midfielder
Kaleb Newton in the 61st minute.
Following the goal, a pair of Hendrix shot attempts were blocked. Millsaps answered with three consecutive corners in a span of two minutes late in the half.
