ATLANTA – Millsaps softball senior third baseman
Lindsey Osbon could not be stopped over the weekend against Hendrix and her efforts led to her being named the Southern Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Osbon finished the four-game series 8-for-13 at the plate, she tallied seven RBIs, scored six runs and drew two walks.
The Majors took three-of-four games while hosting the Warriors at the Millsaps Softball Complex in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. It marks the second consecutive week that a softball Major has been recognized by the conference as sophomore pitcher
Hannah Derouen was named the SAA Softball Pitcher of the Week on March 1.
Osbon, a product of Covington, La., opened Saturday 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-6 triumph. Osbon finished 1-for-3 and reached base with a walk in the second game, which the Majors won 6-4.
On Sunday, the Accounting major exploded for four RBIs, two runs and added a walk while going a perfect 3-for-3 in a 12-4, five-inning win. In the fourth and final game of the weekend, Osbon finished 2-for-4 at the dish, scored a pair of runs and posted an RBI in Millsaps' narrow 6-4 defeat.
The Majors will travel to face Centre College for a four-game series, March 6-7. Both days will feature doubleheaders that will begin at 11 a.m. CT. Live stats and live video will be available on the softball schedule page at gomajors.com.
