ATLANTA – The Millsaps women's tennis program swept Oglethorpe for the second consecutive match, 9-0 to finish the regular season in a non-conference contest on Sunday. On the men's side, the Majors were defeated 7-2 to end their 2021 spring campaign.
Up Next: The women will compete as the No. 1 seed in the SAA Women's Tennis Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, beginning Friday. Millsaps will face No. 4 seed Rhodes in the semifinals with times to be announced later this week.
Women's Recap: 9-0
Sunday featured a carbon copy for Millsaps (8-3, 6-0 SAA) as it posted the second straight 9-0 sweep of Oglethorpe (3-9, 1-5 SAA) to end the weekend. It was the fourth sweep this season for the Majors.
Doubles featured three unique pairings, but all were victorious to open the match.
Grace Gaskins teamed up with
Isabella Hutchins for an 8-5 win on Court 1,
Ella Shields and
Sarah Hayek were 8-2 winners on Court 2, and
Camille Landry paired up with
Camille Fremaux for another 8-2 victory on Court 3.
A trio of Majors have recorded at least five wins in doubles this season. Both Gaskins and Fremaux moved to 7-0, while Hayek improved to 5-0, regardless of partner.
Millsaps swept all six courts in singles to complete the dominant outing.
Maggie Dabadie only dropped one point one Court 1 (6-0, 6-1) to improve her standing at 6-1 as an individual. Hutchins now sits at 4-2 after a 6-3, 6-4 triumph on Court 2.
Jillian Sandoz, Hayek,
Morgan Jenkins and Landry rounded out the Millsaps victories.

Men's Recap: 2-7
Oglethorpe (11-1, 5-1 SAA) overpowered the Millsaps men's team (4-7, 2-4 SAA) with a 7-2 win.
The Stormy Petrels claimed two points in doubles, but juniors
John Kimball and
Benjamin Falk were 8-6 victors on Court 1. The duo finished the spring with a 4-1 mark.
In singles, Oglethorpe earned points on Courts 3 through 6 in two sets. However, Kimball and sophomore
Trevor Vaccaro provided extra resistance on Courts 1 and 2.
Kimball earned his third victory of the season at No. 1 singles with an 8-6 decision. Vaccaro won set one with a 7-5 tiebreak and nearly claimed the second, falling 8-6 in the tiebreaker. The third set was decided at 10-2 in favor of his opponent.
