Majors Downed by No. 14 Berry in Doubleheader

Millsaps Will Face the Vikings in Another Set of Games on Saturday

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Millsaps College softball team (11-8, 8-3 SAA) was swept in a doubleheader at No. 14 Berry College (14-5, 5-3 SAA) at Kay Williams Field on Friday afternoon.

Game One: 3-11
Molli Perry had two hits to lead the Majors in Game One. Perry, Lindsey Osbon, and Emily Cook all tallied an RBI.

Berry found instant offense in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs, two of which scored on wild pitches.

The Majors found life in the third inning when Osbon was walked with the bases loaded to score Leslie Norris to cut into the lead. The Vikings were able to knock in one run in the bottom of the frame to regain a three-run, up 4-1.

Berry continued their offensive display of dominance in the fourth inning by scoring six runs for a 10-1 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, an RBI double to left field from Perry allowed Norris to reach home plate for her second run of the day. Later in the inning, a single to center field from Cook scored Reeves to cut the deficit to 10-3 going into the bottom of the fifth.

One more run by the Vikings was enough to give them an 11-3 victory in five innings.

Game Two: 0-11 (5 Innings)
Perry, Reeves, and Norris all recorded one hit each in Game Two, while freshman Addie Bourgois got her first career. Pitching duo Karley Williams and Cassidy Thrash both recorded two strikeouts each.

Five errors by the Majors led to an 11-0 win for the Vikings.

Berry knocked in two runs in the first inning. In the second and third innings combined, the Vikings were able to score nine runs.

The Majors will face Berry in another doubleheader on Saturday, April 3. First pitch will be at 11 a.m. CT with live stats and video links available on gomajors.com.
