ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Millsaps men's tennis program flew to the Tar Heel State to compete in the the ITA South Regional Championships, hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan over the weekend. Rising freshman Sam Tuli triumphed in his consolation bracket, while other Majors were winners as well.

Following an open defeat, Tuli recovered nicely advancing through four rounds of consolation singles play. He squared off with Millsaps sophomore Brady St. Martin in the quarterfinal qualifier, winning 6-3, 6-3.

Tuli then advanced to the semifinals with a bye where he downed Birmingham-Southern's Davis Eastham, 5-7, 7-5 and securing an epic 11-9 decision in the tiebreak. He then dominated the consolation bracket over Sewanee's Max Gallivan, 6-1, 6-1.

Another freshman in Carson Chassaignac was impressive in his opening collegiate tournament, reaching the semifinals of the consolation A bracket. Chassaignac dispatched another BSC Panther, 6-3, 6-1 during the Round of 16.

He then made it look easy in the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-1 winner against Julian Barros of NC Wesleyan. The run came to an end, however, in the semifinals when Chassaignac fell to Jax Harbour of Sewanee, 6-1, 6-1.
 
St. Martin teamed up with Kells Hecht for a victory in the Doubles B Draw – East Bracket. The duo dispatched foes from NC Wesleyan in the quarterfinals, 8-5. The run ended in the following round when a separate NC Wesleyan defeated St. Martin and Hecht, 8-3.
 
A pair of Major teams nearly picked up two more wins in two more consolation doubles pairings. Seniors Hamilton Jackson and Trevor Vaccaro were narrowly edged, 8-7 (7-5), while Tuli and junior Jakub Bobinski fell in a close battle, 8-7 (7-2).
 
Millsaps is currently scheduled to begin it spring schedule on Saturday, March 4 at Jones College in Ellisville, Miss., beginning at 11 a.m.
