CONWAY, Ark. – A trio of Majors in
Cameron Williams (16 points),
Doug Watson (10 points) and
Brock Brown (10 points) tallied double figures for the Millsaps men's basketball team in a loss at Hendrix. The Majors shot an efficient 81 percent (17-21) from the charity stripe, but fell 81-58 inside Grove Gymnasium on Sunday.
Millsaps (4-19, 2-11 SAA) shot a better percentage from the three-point line (38.9 to 33.3 percent), but Hendrix (15-9, 8-5 SAA) won the turnover battle 13-5 and converted those in 19 points.
The Warriors' lead grew to as much as 10 points midway through the first half. The came to life midway through the half offensively as they combined for a 11-6 burst to cut the deficit to 26-21 with 4:32 remaining in the half. Hendrix responded by finishing the half on a 13-2 run and took a 39-23 lead into the intermission.
Carrying their momentum into the second half, the Warriors raced out with an 11-3 run. Their lead would grow to as much as 69-39 with 8:10 remaining and Hendrix would cruise to an 81-58 win.
