ATLANTA – The Southern Athletic Association announced its first-ever baseball preseason poll on Thursday, with Millsaps baseball picked to finish sixth following a 21-game conference regular season.
The league's coaches voted on the poll predicting the season's eventual order of finish 1-8. A first-place vote garnered a team eight points, a second-place vote netted them seven points, a third-place vote six and so on.
Birmingham-Southern topped the poll with 64 points and all eight first-place votes, Berry tallied 50 points and Rhodes rounded out the top three with 34 points. Millsaps garnered 24 points for sixth and finished ahead of Oglethorpe (16 pts) and Sewanee (14 pts).
The Majors open their season in Longview, Texas at LeTourneau University on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday features a doubleheader, beginning at 12 p.m. with Sunday's finale starting at 1 p.m.
