BIRMINGHAM, Ala - The No. 3 seed Millsaps softball team fell to No. 2 seed Birmingham-Southern in the SAA Softball Tournament Pod Final, 8-1 on Sunday.
Katelyn Norse,
Savanah Stafford and
Amber Clark all notched base hits at the BSC Softball Park against the No. 9 nationally ranked foe. Millsaps (19-23) was looking for two victories to advance the SAA Softball Championship Series but was able to finish the weekend with a 2-2 record.
Kat Reeves and
Katie Norris also reached base for the Majors with walks. Junior starting pitcher
Hannah Derouen yielded four runs, four hits, two walks and struck out three batters in 3.2 innings.
BSC struck first with a solo home run in the second inning. Norse would knot the game up at 1-1 when she smashed a ball to center field to score Stafford from third.
The Panthers would then respond for six runs in the fourth inning and one more in the sixth to pull away for the win.
