JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps Athletics Department announced its newest hire in the Sports Medicine staff with
Carlie Kellems becoming the new Head Athletic Trainer (LAT, ATC) specializing in recovery, treatment and injury prevention of all 18 athletic programs.
Kellems gained experience in athletic training with Elite Physical Therapy, Hattiesburg High School the Manning Passing Academy and several programs at the University of Southern Mississippi, including football, baseball, men's tennis and volleyball.
The Ridgeland native and MRA graduate holds certificates in from the American Heart Association in CPR/AED and First Aid as well as a BOC certification. Kellems is also a member of the National, Southeast and Mississippi Athletic Trainers' Associations.
Her research experience includes work as a Student Principle Investigator for Physical Performance and she studied the effects sleep have on cognitive and physical performance in collegiate athletics.
Kellems graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Southern Miss in 2020. She maintained a 3.9 GPA, while also earning an Associate of Arts from Jones County Junior College in 2017. Additionally, she was named to the President's and Dean's List multiple times and earned several other scholarships and academic achievements.
