MOUNT BERRY, Ga.
– The Millsaps football team was defeated by No. 24 Berry College, 64-7 at Valhalla Stadium on Saturday.
Freshman
Zion Anders tallied a career-high 149 rushing yards and added a rushing touchdown offensively. Sophomore
Brandyn Butler recorded two catches for 23 yards.
Defensively, freshman
Jeremiah Hall led the Majors with eight tackles, including a tackle for loss. Sophomore
Ashton Coffelt tallied seven tackles and classmate
Gavin Williams recorded four tackles (one TFL).
Junior
Ethan Klapatch continued making a difference in special teams with two kickoffs going 110 yards and seven punts averaging 46.4 yards. A pair of punts landed inside in the 20-yard line, with a long of 50 yards. Freshman
Tae Hills tallied eight kickoff returns for 88 yards.
Berry scored on its second possession following a four-yard rush then added a two-point conversion to build an early 8-0 lead. The Vikings defense would force a fumble on the Majors' and add another touchdown and two-point conversion, making the contest 16-0.
The Vikings pushed their lead 22-0, but failed on a third two-point try attempt. However, the Majors would respond with an 86-yard rushing touchdown by Anders on the very next offensive play, cutting the deficit 22-7.
Berry would hold strong from there and finish with a 64-7 victory.
