Gray Jennings Threw for 218 Yards with Temias Mason Hauling in 33-Yard Touchdown Pass

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps football team (1-5, 1-3, SAA) fought hard, but lost in a tough battle to Rhodes (4-2, 2-2 SAA) in an SAA matchup, 37-7 on Saturday at Harper Davis Field.

The matchup doubled as the Majors' Pink Out Game, which saw freshman Gray Jennings throw for 218 yards (21-of-38, one interception) and a touchdown.

Senior Temias Mason hauled in six receptions for 48 yards and a score, junior Connor Ladner recorded five catches for 43 yards and freshman Tae Hills caught two passes for 40 yards. Hills was terrific on special teams, adding 166 yards on five kickoff returns with a long of 49 yards.

Sophomore Ashton Coffelt led the defense with a career-high tying nine tackles. Classmate Nehemiah Coalson tallied six tackles and a pass breakup, fellow sophomore Braylon Wills registered four tackles (2.0 TFLs) and junior Darren Labit forced a fumble.

Junior Ethan Klapatch tallied 189 yards on five punts and sent two kickoffs 109 yards (54.5-yard average).

Rhodes opened the scoring on its first drive with a 31-yard run. The Lynx would respond again with a six-yard rushing score to push the lead to 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

Labit got the Majors back in the game at the end of the quarter forcing a Lynx fumble and ensuing recovery at the Rhodes 37-yard line.

Following the huge play on defense, the offense would only need two plays for Jennings to connect with Mason on a curl route for 33 yards to the right side of the field with 38 seconds on the clock.

Rhodes would combine for two more touchdowns before going into halftime. The Lynx would later add an additional 13 points in the second half to pull away for a 37-7 victory.
