JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men and women's tennis programs are set for another strong season, with second-year head coach
Agnes Gee at the helm.
The Majors welcome back three members of the Southern Athletic Association All-Conference Teams, including eight returners on the men's team and six returners on the women's side. Freshman
Sam Tuli and sophomore transfer
Carson Chassaignac join the men's squad, while freshman
Alexis Oliver enters her first spring season for the Majors.
Looking at the men's team, graduate
John Kimball (First Team) and senior
Trevor Vaccaro (Honorable Mention) should provide leadership and valuable experience.
Kimball, a native of Germantown, Tenn., tallied five wins at No. 1 singles and four victories at No. 2 doubles. Entering the season, his four-year career singles record was 19-17 in dual matches. Kimball was also named to the Second Team in 2021.
Vaccaro, from Southlake, Texas, garnered five victories mainly at No. 2 singles and five doubles wins on Court 1 a year ago.
Tuli made an instant impression by winning a consolation bracket at the ITA South Regional in October. Additionally, Chassaignac, a transfer from NCAA Division II Dallas Baptist, reached the semifinals of his consolation bracket.
Another key returner will be senior
Hamilton Jackson, who won his final five singles matches of the 2022 season on Court 3. Also look out for junior
Jakub Bobinski, senior
Kells Hecht and sophomore
Brady St. Martin to make an impact.
Senior
Camille Fremaux will look to continue her impressive Millsaps career after being named All-Conference for the second time last season. In 2021, she was named SAA Newcomer of the Year and made the All-SAA First Team. Last year she earned a spot on the SAA Second Team.
Fremaux ended the season with five consecutive victories across Courts 1, 2 and 3 singles for a 6-9 mark. She added a 7-5 doubles record primarily on Court 1 and owns an impressive 21-9 career pairing tally through three seasons at Millsaps.
The Baton Rouge, La., product was tabbed the SAA Women's Player of the Week on April 13 and was both named the ITA x Universal Tennis Player Week and was a part of the SAA Doubles Team of the Week in late April.
Oliver also made a splash in September's ITA South Regional, winning a consolation bracket of her own. She also teamed up with sophomore
Mackenzie Vordick to reach a doubles consolation final.
Fremaux alongside sophomore
Kiana Everhart made a separate doubles consolation final as well. Additionally, sophomore
Mary Dabadie advanced to the Flight B1 semifinals.
Junior
Madison Williams and sophomore
Segen Lister complete the roster and should provide strong contributions.
Millsaps begins their seasons at Jackson State on Saturday, Feb. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The teams will later host Belhaven for Senior Day on Friday, March 24 at 2 p.m. Centre (April 22) and Sewanee (April 23) complete the home schedules at this time.
