DANVILLE, Ky. – The Millsaps softball team completed an SAA road series, but fell in a tough 8-0 contest in five innings at the Centre College Softball Field on Sunday.
Junior
Molli Perry batted 1-1 with two walks and a stolen base. Classmate
Katie Norris tallied a double and posted one of eight Major walks on the day.
Millsaps looked ready to claim a 1-0 lead after Perry led off the game with a walk and steal of second base. She would reach third on a passed ball, but was held from scoring with two final outs.
The Colonels responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and two runs in the second inning. The Majors were able to load the bases in the top of the second with three walks.
Norris later cracked the ball in the third for a double to right field. Sophomore
Alli Nolen would walk two batters after, but Centre thwarted the threat again.
The Majors then generated two walks and a single to open the fourth, but were kept scoreless. The Colonels would add three runs to put the run-rule into play in the fourth.
Millsaps will next take on Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga. in a doubleheader on Monday. First pitch is 12 p.m. CT with live video and live stats available at gomjors.com.
