ATLANTA – Millsaps men's tennis rising freshman Sam Tuli was tabbed the Southern Athletic Association Men's Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Tuli finished Spring Break Tennis in Orlando, Fla. with a 4-1 record across Courts 4 and 5.
 
He bested foes from No. 30 Skidmore, Florida Palms, No. 23 Kenyon and provided the 5-4 clincher over Aquinas. His lone defeat was against Southern New Hampshire.
 
Tuli started the week with a thrilling 7-6, 10-8 tiebreaker in an exhibition against nationally ranked Skidmore.
 
The Ocean Springs, Miss., product continued with a comeback win when facing Florida Palms (3-6, 6-1, 6-2). Moving up to Court 4 for the remainder of the week, Tuli was bested by his Southern New Hampshire counterpart, 6-4, 6-1.

He responded with a pair of big victories on the final day of competition. Tuli got by a No. 23 Kenyon opponent in an unforgettable tiebreak, 6-3, 1-6, 13-11. The week concluded with Tuli securing the match point in a 5-4 Major triumph (7-5, 6-3).
 
The Majors compete this week in New Orleans and are scheduled to host Senior Day against Belhaven on Friday. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at the Coach Montgomery Courts. Live video will be available on gomajors.com.
