ATLANTA – Millsaps softball junior outfielder
Katie Norris was unstoppable at the plate in the Majors' weekend road sweep of Hendrix. She was recognized as the Southern Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week for her efforts on Monday, the league office announced in a news release on Monday.
Norris posted a .727 on-base percentage, batting 7-for-10 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a walk and a double. The Hoover, Ala., product powered Millsaps to three victories over the host Warriors.
In Friday's 8-0, Game One win in five innings, she finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, run and walk. She followed by going 3-for-4 in both Games Two and Game Three. She added an RBI and double in the second contest on Friday, while adding a run in Saturday's finale.
Norris is the fourth Millsaps softball student-athlete to be recognized by the SAA for thewWeekly honor this season. On March 24, senior
Hannah Derouen garnered SAA Pitcher of the Week recognition.
Additionally on Feb. 14, senior
Delta Claire Newman was named Pitcher of the Week, while junior
Brianna Newman was tabbed SAA Softball Player of the Week.
