JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College faculty and students banned together in the finale of D3 Week celebrations in the Student v Faculty Basketball Game. The faculty team triumphed in a 47-45 thriller inside the Hangar Dome on Friday.

Shelby Wilbanks tallied 17 points and three rebounds, while graduate
Nick Ojonta finished off with seven points and six rebounds.
On the student team, senior
Christopher Butler led with 12 points. Sophomores
Darren Labit (nine points, nine rebounds) and
Drew Roth (eight points, nine rebounds) nearly recorded double-doubles.
Millsaps Faculty, which featured professors, administrators and coaches, outnumbered the students with a 30-28 points inside the paint edge along with a 14-8 advantage in second-chance points. The Millsaps students posted a 21-19 bench point lead, which featured players flowing in and out of the game freely.
Fouls counted as one free point and the game featured four, seven-minute quarters with a running clock. The matchup was very close between both teams until the end, but the Millsaps staff were able to hang on late with a few key stops.
