Softball Falls in Regular-Season Finale Hosting No. 4 Berry

Majors will Next Compete in SAA Tournament Pod Play, April 28-30

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps softball program concluded its SAA regular-season finale with No. 4-nationally ranked Berry, falling 10-0 and 7-1 at the Millsaps College Softball Complex on Sunday.

Game 1: 10-0 (5 inn.), L

Senior Magen Authement finished with the lone hit and classmate Mackenzie Fleming walked against a dominant Berry pitching staff in Game One.

The Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the first and added two more runs in the second. Junior center fielder Molli Perry made a sparkling, diving catch in the same frame to keep it 5-0 early.

Berry attacked again in the fourth inning with three additional runs and add two more in the fifth for the final tally.

Game 2: 7-1, L

Junior Camille Black finished 1-2 with an RBI, while Fleming added a hit, a run scored and a walk in Game Three of the weekend series.

Senior Hannah Derouen held Berry to one run and four hits in the final 2.2 innings, with one walk and one strikeout.

Berry jumped ahead to a 5-0 advantage following the first inning. Both teams would remain scoreless until the fifth inning when the Vikings added a single run.

The Vikings answered again in the seventh for a 7-0 cushion, but the Majors would try and make a comeback in the final frame. Black singled up the middle to score Fleming from second base with two outs. However, Berry would hold on for the 7-1 decision.

The Majors will now prepare for postseason play and travel to compete in the Berry Pod or BSC Pod of the SAA Softball Tournament, April 28-30. Live video and live stats of each game will be available at gomajors.com.
