Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps softball team swept Hendrix in an SAA road series with a 7-5 win at Warriors Softball Field on Saturday.
Senior
Amber Clark scored a run and tallied three RBIs. Junior
Katie Norris was unstoppable going 3-4 with a run scored. Freshman
Julia Strain (2-3) doubled, walked, scored two runs and generated an RBI. Additionally, senior
Magen Authement recorded a pair of hits and posted an RBI.
Freshman
Abigail Smith earned the win in two innings of relief. She allowed no runs, one hit and struck out one Warrior batter.
The Warriors scored first in the bottom of the third to amount a 2-0 lead, but the Majors would answer with five fourth-inning runs.
A nice double by Strain scored junior
Haylie Hoffpauir to begin the comeback. Back-to-back doubles by seniors
Mackenzie Fleming and Clark would then make it 4-2 in favor of the Majors. Authement later crushed a single to right field to plate Clark, giving Millsaps a 5-2 edge.
Hendrix blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.
Both teams would go scoreless until the seventh inning. Following three consecutive singles, Fleming earned a walk to push the lead back ahead to 6-5. Clark would then force an error to build a two-run cushion.
The Warriors tried to muster a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, but the Majors sealed the game for a series sweep.
