SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps men's tennis program performed well in a tough ITA South Regional tournament, held Sept. 22-24 at the University of the South.
 
"We had some very exciting results and have high hopes for the future," Millsaps head men's and women's tennis coach Agnes Gee said. "I'm very proud to mention some of the men's achievements."
 
Coach Gee Notes:

• In the main draw, although sophomore Sam Tuli lost to Emory's Ryan Glanville in the Main Singles Draw, the first set was very close and entertaining to watch. (Tuli was bested 6-4, 6-0)
   
• Junior Anderson Dulaney's win over one of the top players in the conference in the Main Consolation Single Draw (Tanner DeBardelaben of BSC) was a win to celebrate (7-5, 6-7, 14-12). Dulaney fought his way through a third set tie-breaker, 14-12, to clinch a very important victory.
   
• Dulaney's following loss to North Carolina-Wesleyan's Logan Stolz was also an epic battle with the match being decided on only couple of points. (Stolz prevailed 6-1, 7-5)
   
• Another Major to watch was junior Sam Willard, whose resistance and hard work paid off this tournament with his win over Chase Turley of Centre in the Main Singles Draw (8-6)
   
• Willard battled in his next match and narrowly lost to Cole McNair of Rhodes (7-6, 4-6, 6-10).
   
• I would also like to mention junior Brady St. Martin, whose game was very promising throughout this tournament.
   
• The Main Doubles Draw of freshman Caleb Solangi and Tuli was a happy surprise. The duo came together after Tuli's partner had to withdraw from the tournament due to sickness. The pair put on a good fight against a very highly ranked doubles team despite the fact they never played together. (Solangi/Tuli were narrowly edged by Jakobi/Ramsey of Sewanee, 8-5)
   
• Altogether, I am very proud of the team and hopeful for a successful spring season.
