SHREVEPORT, La. – The Millsaps softball team was bested 2-1 in eight innings by Centenary at the Centenary Softball Complex on Sunday. 
 
Senior Katie Norris batted 2-for-2 with a stolen base, run scored and walk. Classmate Molli Perry went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and fellow senior Camille Black added a hit.
 
Freshman Mya Skinner pitched seven innings in the circle, while only allowing three hits, one earned run and two walks. She added three strikeouts with a 106-pitch outing.
 
Norris gave the Majors an early 1-0 lead with a double-steal play and advanced to home in the second inning. 
 
In the bottom of the third inning, Centenary stole home to tie the game at 1-1 in a run-down play at second base. 
 
In the top of the fifth, Millsaps would have another opportunity to take back the lead as Perry reached on a fielder's choice, stole second base and later advanced to third. However, Centenary would catch the Majors with a strikeout swinging to end the inning. 
 
Millsaps would hold off their opponents until the bottom of the eighth inning as the Ladies had a placed runner on second reach hone on an error to down the Majors, 2-1. 
 
The Majors will be back in action in a Saturday doubleheader at Rhodes in the SAA opener, beginning at 12 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn. Live video and live stats will be provided at gomajors.com.
