CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps men's and women's track and field programs concluded the 2024 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championship with five school records and seven student-athletes earning All-SAA Honorable Mention status over the weekend at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

Both programs finished sixth overall. All-SAA Honorable Mention performances required an impressive third-place performance at the league meet.

On Friday, senior Patrick Elliott bettered his program record in the 3000-meter steeplechase down to 9 minutes, 34.09 seconds.

On Saturday, freshman Jeremiah Hall placed third in the triple jump with a record-breaking bound of 13.89 meters. Sophomore Eleanor Scott bested her own triple jump record as well to 11.48 meters.

Hall also teamed up with freshman Ian McAlpine, junior Dez'Tavien Frank and graduate Bryan Sullivan to place third in the 4x100-meter relay in 43.29 seconds on Saturday.

Frank had a sensational Day Two individually as well. The Baton Rouge, La., product set new school standards in the 200-meter Final (22.19) and 400-meter Final (48.99). He placed fifth and fourth, respectively.

Elliott also excelled in his final SAA meet on Saturday, placing eighth in the 1500 meters (4:07.51) and 12th in the 800 meters (2:01.89).

Freshman Greer Hernandez became the third-faster runner in program history in the 5000 meters with a sizzling time of 16:04.68, securing ninth place. He ended ahead of Landry Lemoine (17:47.18; 18th), who competed in his final SAA meet.

Completing strong placements from the men's squad was Sullivan. The Jackson, Miss., native threw the javelin 42.68 meters and finished 10th.

The 4x100-meter relay earned All-SAA Honorable Mention, while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Frank, junior Patch Heard, McAlpine and Hall became the third-fastest relay squad in the event in program history. The four ended the race in fourth (3:28.43).

On the women's side, Scott also tallied points in the high jump (1.50 meters; sixth) along with junior Tyler Hamby in the javelin (31.47 meters, seventh). Freshman Amelia Bohl also had a strong showing in the discus (29.05 meters; 12th), completing the field events.

Sophomore Ashanti Lastrapes was swift in the 100-meter Final (12.87; seventh) and 200-meter Final (27.09; seventh). Junior Natalie Burke excelled in the same 200-meter sprint (26.63; fifth).

Junior Sarah Strickland was the top Major in three events. She finished 14th in the 800 meters (2:32.10), 13th in the 1500 meters (5:17.63) and 14th in the 5000 meters (20:41.41). Classmate Fran Edwards paced right behind in the 5000 meters (20:47.85; 16th).

Lastrapes and Burke were half of the 4x100-meter relay alongside sophomore Ally Hearn and freshman Fiona Selders. The quartet crossed the line in 51.62 for fourth place.

Lastly, Selders, Strickland, Hearn and Hamby placed seventh (4:31.05) in the 4x400-meter relay.

The Majors will next likely send a few student-athletes to compete in a last chance meet and improve chances of qualifying for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
