MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Millsaps men's and women's track and field teams excelled, posting 16 personal-best performance and four events wins at the Rhodes 7-Way Meet across Crain Field on Saturday.
On the men's side, distance events reigned supreme as sophomore
Greer Hernandez bettered his own school record in the 5000 meters, while freshman
Benjamin Sylve was only 0.3 seconds off the school record in the 800 meters.
Hernandez claimed first place with a school-record time of 15 minutes, 15.96 seconds, bettering the field of 17 runners by over 16 seconds. Hernandez' time improved upon his own school record by nearly 19 seconds.
Sylve finished fourth in the 800 with an impressive time of 1:58.65. His classmate
Dallas Stricker became the fourth fastest runner in program history after placing runner-up in the 3000-meter steeplechase, with a time of 10:25.27.
Freshman
Sean Wyers had an excellent meet as well, claiming first place in the discus (41.91 meters), and third in the men's hammer throw (30.88 meters).
Sophomore
Dillon Duley and freshman
Michael Cosgriff also placed second and third, respectively in the shot put. Duley managed a toss of 12.55 meters, while Cosgriff secured a personal best of 12.31 meters.
Rounding out the highlights from the men's throws was junior
Carter Davis. Davis established a personal best in the javelin, claiming fifth (27.49 meters).
The sprinters for Millsaps showed well on Saturday as well. Freshman
Nick Price earned third in the 100 meters (11.32 seconds) for a personal best.
Classmate
Luke LeFors and sophomore
Aidan Brice also netted personal bests on the day. LeFors was third in the 400 meters (51.45) and fourth in the 200 meters (23.03), while Brice was fifth in the 200 meters (23.26).
First-year student-athlete
Frederick Fluker Jr. also tallied a third-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles (16.36 seconds).
The lone relay for the Majors featured a season-best performance in the 4x100-meter relay. Brice, freshman
Wyatt Wheeler, Fluker Jr., and sophomore
W.H. Carver claimed third in 43.35 seconds.
On the women's side, Millsaps had an impressive meet across multiple disciplines. Senior
Eleanor Scott and junior
Amelia Bohl highlighted event triumphs.
Scott won the women's triple jump (10.53 meters), while Bohl won the discus (34.84 meters). Bohl also secured runner-up status in the hammer throw (37.86 meters), for her second personal-best distance of the day.
Senior
Amari Jackson-Wright impressed in the shot put, where she improved upon her fourth-best mark in the event. Jackson-Wright secured third in the meet with a toss of 10.57 meters. She also had a personal best in the hammer throw, while junior
Reese Brasseaux and sophomore
Laken Day each improved their top marks in the discus.
Both freshman
Katie Brown and Scott cleared the high jump bar in 1.47 meters. It was a personal best for Brown as the duo placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Junior
Fiona Selders had another excellent, showcasing her sprinting abilities. She claimed second in the 100 meters (12.73) and fourth in the 200 meters (25.75).
The Majors will next set their sights on competing at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, April 24-25. Berry College will host the event in Rome, Ga.
