NEW ORLEANS – Millsaps men's track & field senior Patrick Elliott closed his stellar Major career by being named an All-Region performer by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) in the 3000-meter steeplechase. 
 
The Covington, La., native ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III South Region following the outdoor track and field season. He becomes the first Major in the sport to be tabbed All-Region by the USTFCCCA since 2021. 
 
To secure the honor, individuals must place in the top five in each event of a top-three ranked relay team from each of the 10 regions or be members. Only USTFCCCA member programs were eligible for awards. 
 
During the 2023-24 track and field seasons, Elliott competed in six outdoor meets and one indoor competition, including five 3000-meter steeplechase events. 
 
The senior bettered his own program record in the 3000-meter steeplechase after finishing third and claiming All-SAA Honor Mention status at the 2024 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championship. His time of 9 minutes, 34.09 seconds was his third record in the event as a senior. 
 
Elliott dominated the event in his final collegiate campaign, which also featured runner-up performances on three separate occasions. 
 
He also impressed in the open 3000 meters during the indoor season, besting the 10-year old school record with a sizzling mark of 9:07.62. 
 
The Biology major was also selected the 2023-24 Paul Benton Award recipient, which recognizes the most distinguished senior male student-athlete by the Millsaps College Department of Athletics. 
 
Lastly, he also set the outdoor program records in both the 800 and 1500 meters as well as claiming first place in the 1500 at the 2021 SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Elliott also twice earned All-SAA recognition in cross country.
