CANTON, Ga. – Millsaps softball sophomore pitcher and designated player
Allana Vasquez made Southern Athletic Association history by sweeping the conference's weekly honors all by herself on Monday.
Vasquez was selected the SAA Athlete of the Week and SAA Pitcher of the Week by league coaches, which was announced via the SAA league office.
Her efforts in the batter's box and circle powered the Majors to a 4-0 weekend at The W Invitational in Columbus, Miss.
She batted .700 (7-for-10), added seven RBIs, five doubles, two runs and walked twice in a pair of wins against both MUW and Covenant.
She also totaled 12.0 IP with three earned runs, a 1.75 ERA, nine strikeouts, while only allowing six hits and five walks.
Monday's announcement gives Vasquez four SAA weekly honors for her collegiate career after twice being named the SAA Pitcher of the Week last season.
The Udine, Italy, native joins freshmen
Brynn Arena (Athlete of the Week) and
Hailey Peterson (Pitcher of the Week) with SAA honors this season. The duo swept the weekly recognition on Feb. 3.
