Track & Field Competes in Programs' First SAA Indoor Championships

Fran Edwards Finished Eighth in Women’s 5000 Meters

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Millsaps men's and women's track and field programs competed in the 2025 Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships inside the Lisa H. Owens Fieldhouse, Friday and Saturday. 
 
The event was the second-ever SAA indoor conference meet and the first time the Majors took part.

After setting the women's 5000-meter school record in at the Samford Invite, senior Fran Edwards finished eighth on Friday. She ran a quality time of 19 minutes, 32.22 seconds to score the first-ever SAA indoor championship point for Millsaps.

Sophomore W.H. Carver held the 12th spot in the men's 60-meter dash, where he ran 7.53. The time ranks fifth-fastest in program history. 
 
The Memphis, Tenn., native also took 15th in the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 24.98 seconds.

Classmate Carter Davis also placed 15th in both the weight throw (8.18 meters) and shot put (7.65 meters) to complete his events.
