CANTON, Ga. – Millsaps softball junior
Kinsey Smith impressed at the plate, helping the Majors to a two-game sweep of MUW and series win over Rhodes. On Monday, she was voted the Southern Athletic Association Softball Athlete of the Week by league head coaches.
The Majors went 4-1 last week and improved to 15-9 (4-2 SAA), placing the team second in the conference standings.
Smith posted a 0.67 on-base percentage, batting 8-for-13 with a home run, six RBIs, while scoring four runs, with three doubles and walked twice in five games.
The first baseman and designated player becomes the fifth Major to be recognized with an SAA weekly honor this season. Sophomore
Allana Vasquez swept SAA Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week honors on Feb. 17. The freshmen duo of
Hailey Peterson (Pitcher) and
Brynn Arena (Athlete) earned both awards together on Feb. 3 as well.
Millsaps will next compete at Belhaven University on Tuesday, April 8, beginning at 6 p.m. Live video and live stats links will be provided at gomajors.com.
