Box Score NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Millsaps women's tennis team fought tough, but were bettered by Centre College, 4-0 in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Southern Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship at Burns Park Tennis Center on Friday.
Centre (10-8) clinched the doubles point with identical 6-3 scores on Courts Two and Three.
Freshman
Riley McClain teamed up with junior
Alexis Oliver on Court Two, while the freshman duo of
Malakie Smith and
Skylar Spinks battled on Court Three.
Millsaps (7-10) also saw seniors
Mary Dabadie and
Mackenzie Vordick trail only by a 4-3 score on Court One when the point was clinched.
The Colonels took three singles points to claim the match, but not before several hard-fought matchups.
Vordick was downed, 6-2, 6-3 on Court Two, McClain was outlasted, 6-1, 6-2 on Court Three and Lister was stopped, 6-1, 6-1 on Court Five.
Oliver fell in the first set, 6-3, but was able to send her match a third set with a similar 6-3 score in set two. She held a 2-0 advantage on Court Four in the decisive final set when the match was clinched.
On Court One, Dabadie narrowly lost the opening set, 7-5 before only trailing, 3-2 in the second set as the match was called.
Spinks fell in the first set, 6-0, but fought to a 6-6 draw in the set two on Court Six when the contest was finished on other courts.
The Majors will now await the naming of the 2025 SAA All-Conference awards, scheduled for announcement early next week.
