SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps College men's and women's track and field programs concluded Day Two of the 2025 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships with numerous placements in the Finals inside Harris Stadium on Saturday. Several Majors also posted quality marks in the school record book.
On the women's side, sophomore
Fiona Selders placed sixth in the 200-meter dash Final with a time of 26.22 seconds. Her time was just run with wind assistance, but she is still the third fastest individual in the event in program history. Selders also recorded a sixth-place showing in the 400-meter Final (1:00.02).
Junior
Eleanor Scott also scored points for the Majors in sixth in both the triple jump (10.83 meters) and high jump (1.46 meters).
Also scoring for the Majors was senior distance standout
Fran Edwards, who finished eighth in the 5,000 meters (18:58.13). She shattered the 10K school record on Friday (39:52.35) and bested the 5K mark two weeks prior (18:40.97). Edwards ran the 5,000 meters under 19 minutes three times this season.
Sophomore
Amelia Bohl led the Majors with two 11th-place and personal-best performances in field events. On Friday, she totaled a mark of 32.40 meters in the hammer throw before tossing the discus 31.78 meters on Saturday.
The 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays both scored in sixth-place, setting season bests on Saturday. Freshman
Molly Northam, classmate
Suzanna Busbee, Selders and senior
MacKenzie Farris covered the 4x100-meter relay in 55.60 seconds. Senior
Sarah Strickland, freshman
Claudia Dempsey, Northam and Busbee raced the 4x400-meter relay 4:29.84.
The men's team saw one of their own compete in a track Final and score points. Sophomore
Justin Smith impressed in the 400 meters with a blistering time of 50.97 seconds. His fifth-place finish ranks him as the fourth-swiftest Major ever in the event.
Smith was also the opening leg of the fifth-place 4x100-meter relay. Receiving the baton were freshmen trio
Aidan Brice, classmate
W.H. Carver and
Ian Burleson, combining for a time of 44.81 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay of freshman
Phillip Antis, Brice, sophomore
William Sullivan and Smith were sixth in 3:40.69.
