JACKSON, Miss. – The No. 2 seed Millsaps College softball team travels to Columbus, Ga., to compete in the 2025 Southern Athletic Association Softball Championship, beginning on Thursday.
Double-elimination games will take place at the South Commons Softball Complex and are scheduled to run through Saturday, with an 'if necessary' game to be played on Sunday.

The Majors enter with an impressive record of 22-12 (11-4 SAA), which is the most wins since 2017.
Sophomore
Ella Morgan Sears leads the Majors with 31 runs, 14 doubles, five triples and three home runs. Her doubles and triples pace the SAA.
The center fielder has appeared in 34 games, while making 33 starts for the Majors. Sears holds a .320 batting average and stands second on the team with 39 hits.
Having a stellar season, classmate
Allana Vasquez holds a 12-7 pitching record and leads the conference with five shutouts. second with 98 total strikeouts.
Vasquez has pitched 116 innings inside the circle for the Majors this season.
Her outstanding performances led her to being named SAA Softball Pitcher of the Week and SAA Softball Athlete of the Week in the same set of announcements on Feb. 17.
Stepping outside the circle, Vasquez leads the team with 43 hits, is second with 28 RBIs, while also tying for second with two triples.
Vasquez's team-high .381 batting average stands seventh in the league. She also holds nine walks and 17 runs.
Freshman
Brynn Arena, another caliber player for the Majors, holds the second spot alongside Vasquez with two triples thus far.
The right fielder has registered nine RBIs, six doubles and 30 hits with a .349 batting average.
Sophomore
Kadence Cannon started in 33 games and boasts 29 hits with an identical .349 batting average, 18 runs scored and 10 RBIs.
Freshman
Hailey Peterson, another strong leader for the Majors, leads the team with four home runs, is second with 30 runs and third with 37 hits.
Peterson also stands first on the team and third in the conference with 30 RBIs.
Playing both sides of the ball well, the Metairie, La., native holds an impressive 10-5 pitching record and has pitched 105 innings with 33 strikeouts.
On March 20, Peterson helped the Majors defeat Agnes Scott with a six-inning no-hitter. She also was named the SAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Arena was the SAA Softball Athlete of the Week on Feb. 3.
Hailing from Baker, La., senior
Alli Nolen owns a .333 batting average and the shortstop currently is tied for fourth on the team with 31 hits and 16 RBIs.
Nolen has started in all 34 games and leads the team with Peterson with 12 walks.
Classmate
Kinsey Smith,
a key competitor to the Majors' success, ties for third on the team with eight doubles and two home runs.
The designated player is also fifth among her peers with 15 RBIs. She was the SAA Softball Athlete of the Week on March 31 as well.
Freshman
Kodi Jimmie, a native of Choctaw, Miss., stepped up big in her first collegiate campaign where she is tied for third on the team with two home runs.
The corner infielder started in all 34 games, standing in a fourth-place tie on the team with 18 runs, 31 hits and 16 RBIs.
Classmate
Kirsten Gilchrist is also impressing in her initial season. The left fielder has homered, tallied 14 hits and 11 runs in 21 starts.
