JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps College Athletics has bolstered its administrative staff by naming alum
Doug Garner as the Millsaps College Associate Athletic Director on Tuesday.
Known for his leadership, relationship building and business development, Garner will relaunch the M-Club and cultivate corporate sponsorships. He will also assist athletics with game day operations and help manage facilities, Millsaps College Director of Athletics
Justin LeBlanc noted.
"I'm excited to get started on relaunching the M-Club and to give back to an institution that has been such a huge part of my family!" Garner said.
Garner is a 2004 BBA and 2005 MBA graduate of Millsaps and was later inducted into the Millsaps College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.
He most recently was the Owner, CEO and CFO at Logan Farms Honey Glazed Ham & Market Cafe from 2013-22. He also worked for Purdue Pharma LP as a Professional Sales Representative and Eli Lilly & Company prior to that.
Garner also returns after coaching the Millsaps College men's and women's golf teams from 2009-11. From 2004-09, he was a Sales & Charity Coordinator for the Viking Classic (now Sanderson Farms Championship).
As a student-athlete, he was the 2003 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, All-South Region and a three-time All-SCAC selection. He also g
raduated as the Majors' all-time leader in wins (32), strikeouts (260) and innings pitched (345.1).
Garner, who played two seasons of football and five seasons of baseball, was also named to the n
amed to the SCAC 15th Anniversary Baseball Team (1992-2005). He still holds the SCAC record for longest game at 11.0 innings pitched, while his career win total is second most in the conference's history.
Additionally, he twice helped the Majors to SCAC postseason titles leading to two NCAA Regional appearances.
