Believing in One Another: 2025 Volleyball Season Preview

Majors Return 14 Veterans, add 11 Newcomers Ready to Compete in Fall

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps volleyball program looks to continue conquering the court after finishing last season with a 22-6 overall record and 8-4 in the conference, the best since 2012. The Majors will be returning 14 veterans and 11 newcomers, all ready to compete during the fall calendar.

The team will be led by head coach Jaime Fisher, entering her 18th year at the helm of the Majors, and third-year assistant coach Hannah Lingold.

During the Majors' 2024 season, the team Majors finish with the most wins (22) since the 2012 season and also earned the most conference victories (eight) since 2014.

Millsaps tied its program-best of four All-SAA honorees. The Majors secured a pair of All-SAA First Team honorees for the first time since 2012 as well.

It was also the first time ever the Majors swept SAA Offensive and Defensive weekly recognition in a single week. Lastly, Millsaps earned the No. 3 seed in the 2024 SAA Volleyball Championship.

Defensively the Majors paced the conference in digs (19.61 per set) and opponent hitting percentage (.117).

Senior Ally Baer (MH/MB) will be returning to lead the squad once again after finishing last season on the 2024 All-SAA First Team.

Shining on the volleyball court, Baer led the SAA with a .286 hitting percentage and finished tied for first in the conference with 86 total blocks.

She finished second on the Majors with 283 kills, while adding an impressive 117 digs and 10 assists to go along with her accolades. The Pace, Fla., native ranked first on the team with 44 service aces. Baer was also named the SAA Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week twice during her junior season.

Junior Sandy Bourgeois (DS/L) looks to finish where she left off after making the 2024 All-SAA Second Team.

Believing in herself, Bourgeois topped the conference in digs per set (4.97 digs) and was second in total digs (512). She was also second on the team with 69 assists and fourth with 21 service aces.

On Nov. 4, she was named
the SAA Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week after a remarkable performance against Rhodes College and Hendrix College. In a pair of matchups against the Lynx and the Warriors, she totaled 44 digs, five assists and a pair of aces to better both opponents.

Senior Trista Naquin (MH) will also be returning to lead the Majors as well. Last season the veteran appeared and started in all 28 matchups for the Majors and finished fourth on the team with 169 kills, while recording seven assists.

Naquin's impressive showcase earned third on the team with 50 block assists and 57 total blocks. She also held down 28 digs against her opponents.

The Majors will also be led by senior Mallory Richardson (OH/RS). Last season Richardson was named to the 2024 SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship Team after showing great leadership with her peers and opponents during competition.

Richardson appeared in all 28 matches while making six starts in 97 sets. On the defensive side of the court, she accumulated 56 digs and 27 total blocks.

Millsaps starting libero Olivia Danos will also be returning back for her senior campaign. Last season Danos was tied first place on the team with 103 sets played.

The Houston, Texas native appeared
in all 28 matches and made 22 starts to help the Majors' winning season. Danos finished third on the team with 33 service aces and fifth with 237 digs.

Other competitors will include junior Caroline Russo (S/DS). She boasted 20 assists, four service aces and eight digs in two matches. The standout student-athlete will look to continue battling hard for the Majors during the 2025 season.

Sophomore Lily Bumpers (OH) also makes her return after collecting 19 kills and a block in 13 sets played.

Not afraid of blocking her opponent's attacks, second-year student Zoë LaCaze (MH) will look to add more playing time after finishing her freshman year with 18 sets played. While on the court, LaCaze accumulated 20 kills and seven total blocks.

Classmate Abigail Drury
(S/DS) made an instant impact for the Majors during her freshman campaign a year ago. Drury appeared in 28 matchups, while tallying 19 starts. The talented setter dished out 47 assists, six kills and 20 service aces.

Other key players returning include sophomores Mara Colón (DS/L), McCullough Lawson (DS), Jennifer Nattinger (OH/RS) and Morgan Perry (S/DS), and junior Amelia Bohl (RS). All look to continue making a name for themselves.
