JACKSON, Miss. — Millsaps football senior Luke Bridges has been nominated for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy®, one of the most prestigious collegiate awards recognizing seniors demonstrating tremendous leadership, academic and athletic abilities, which is announced by the National Football Foundation.
The trophy is given to the top football scholar-athlete in the nation among the FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels. Each college in the country is able to nominate one football player that meets the criteria set forth by the selection committee.
The student-athlete must be in their final year of football eligibility, have at least a 3.2 GPA or higher, be a strong contributor on the football field and be a proven leader and citizen in the community.

Bridges spends his time on campus leading Bible study for the Millsaps football team, where he has also conducted a research paper on American musician and songwriter Bob Dylan. He is also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, a Presidential Ambassador and conducts play-by-play of Millsaps College Athletics events.
Last season, the talented defensive back made six starts for the Majors and appeared in all nine games. He helped Millsaps conclude its 2024 campaign with the most overall and conference wins since 2019.
In 18 career games in two seasons, Bridges has 78 tackles, 50 solo tackles, four TFLs, one interception and one forced fumble.
After graduation Bridges plans to attend graduate school to continue his academic studies in the pursuit of an MBA.
Selected by the NFF Awards Committee in October, the finalists and the winner are all honored at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in December at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. Each finalist receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class. During the event, one member of the class is selected as the recipient of the Campbell Trophy® as the best football scholar-athlete in the nation and has his postgraduate scholarship increased to a total of $25,000. The award comes with a 25-pound bronze trophy.
