Football's High-Powered Offense Tops Hendrix, 41-19 on Saturday

Grant Bizjack Throws for 352 Yards and Five Touchdowns in Victory

CONWAY, Ark. — The Millsaps football team defeated Hendrix College in a 41-19 triumph freshman quarterback Grant Bizjack tallied 416 all-purpose yards and threw for five touchdowns, leading the offensive charge on Saturday.

The defense contributed significantly with seven sacks, effectively stifling the Hendrix's rushing game, which was held to just 27 yards on 29 attempts at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium on Saturday,

Bizjack led the Millsaps offense with 352 passing yards and five touchdowns on 26-of-36 attempts, while also rushing for 64 yards on eight carries. The Trophy Club, Texas, product's five passing scores is tied for third in a single-game in program history and his 416 total yards is sixth.

Sophomore Greg Donaldson contributed significantly as a receiver, amassing 106 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions. Senior Blake Wiley added to the offensive efforts with 59 receiving yards and a touchdown on three catches.

Redshirt junior Mitch Taylor added a receiving score with two receptions and 32 yards. Junior Willie Elliott also hauled in a touchdown catch with 59 yards and three receptions.

Leading the special teams effort was sophomore Connor Babin with eight kickoffs for 498 yards (62.3-yard average) and three touchbacks. Babin added field goals from 20 yards and 30 yards out, while also connecting on all five PATs. Freshman Jace Vasquez also recorded four punts for 181 yards, including a 67-yarder against the Warriors.

On the defensive front, the Majors totaled seven sacks, tying for third-most in a single game.

Sophomore Myles Johnson was a standout with seven tackles, 2.5 TFLs, two sacks and a quarterback hurry. Junior Nate Johnson, senior Zabian Boutan (sack) and classmate Luke Bridges each recorded five total tackles. Redshirt sophomore Brewer Bailey registered three tackles and two breakups.

Sophomore Decorian Warren, freshman Harrison Rogers, sophomore Kyle Veal Jr. and senior Yahya Rashid also added a sack each.

The first quarter began with Millsaps setting the tone early as Bizjack connected with Wiley on a 35-yard touchdown pass at 7:47, following a series of efficient plays highlighted by Bizjack's 17-yard rush and redshirt sophomore Braxton Garmon's 16-yard gain.

The visiting defense showcased resilience with Myles Johnson sacking Hendrix's quarterback for an 11-yard loss on the next drive. Despite a strong start, Millsaps' momentum was briefly halted by an interception late in the quarter, which Hendrix capitalized on with a 96-yard touchdown pass, leveling the score at 7-7 by the end of the quarter.

The second quarter commenced with Millsaps advancing methodically down the field, highlighted by Bizjack's effective 12-yard and 11-yard consecutive rushes. However, the drive was halted by a turnover as Bizjack's pass was intercepted in the end zone.

Undeterred, Millsaps regained momentum late in the quarter with an Elliott 44-yard touchdown reception from Bizjack, followed by  Babin's successful extra point, cementing a 14-7 lead.

The third quarter began with Millsaps asserting total control, as Bizjack connected with Taylor for a 25-yard touchdown at the 9:49 mark, extending their lead to 21-7.

The Majors' defense made a significant impact by recovering a fumble forced by senior Nehemiah Coalson and recovered by sophomore Elias Allen, halting Hendrix's progress and regaining possession.

Later, Bizjack found Donaldson for a 20-yard touchdown with 3:00 remaining, widening the gap to 28-7, and Babin successfully added the extra point, showcasing the team's strong offensive execution in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Millsaps solidified their lead with a strategic field goal by Babin from 20 yards at 13:51, extending their advantage to 31-7.

The defense then made a critical stop with sophomore Decorian Warren sacking the Hendrix quarterback for a 10-yard loss on third down.

The Majors continued to dominate offensively, highlighted by a 24-yard touchdown pass from Bizjack to Donaldson at 10:49.

Hendrix posted a couple of late touchdowns as Babin added a 30-yard field goal for the Majors' final score in between Warrior scoring drives. However, the Majors earned an impressive, 41-19 road win on Saturday.

Millsaps will next travel to Danville, Ky., to face Centre College on Saturday, October 4. Kickoff is set for noon CT with live video and live stats available at gomajors.com.
