JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's track and field programs are looking to compete well during the 2026 outdoor track and field season.
The Majors were picked seventh in the women's preseason poll, while the men's were selected to finish eighth.
Millsaps Track & Field head coach Brandon Beckett and assistant Derrick Jordan will both look to continue turning the programs around, entering their second year at Millsaps making a positive impact for the Majors.
On the women's side, the Majors will hold 15 student-athletes on their roster ready to step up to the challenge following the 2026 outdoor track and field season.
Senior Eleanor Scott will look to lead the front line for the Majors' sprinters and jumpers. The Clinton, Miss., native is coming off a very successful indoor season, where she broke a program record at the 2026 SAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in the triple jump (7th, 10.68 m).
Lacing up her shoes for the 2026 track and field outdoor season. Senior Fiona Selders will continue making a statement for the Majors after placing her name first in the record book in the 60m.
Selders, she finished third in the 60-meter prelims in 7.82 seconds at the 2026 conference indoor track & field championships.
Other key veterans will include sophomores Molly Northam and Suzanna Busbee.
On April 12, 2025, Northam shined in the javelin throw, where she finished fourth (27.15 m) at the Rhodes 7 Way Meet. On the same day she finished third in the 4x400 relay (4:34.15).
Busbee, a dual athlete looking to have an awesome season, finished seventh in the Belhaven Twilight on April 3, 2025, in 13.81 seconds.
Busbee will also be competing on the Millsaps' first-ever women's flag football team this spring as well.
Classmate Claudia Dempsey is looking to lead the Majors as well, after finishing ninth at the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship with a 12:55.19 completion in the 3000 m steeplechase.
Showcasing their talent in the field events are seniors Amari-Jackson Wright and Viv Jordan.
Taking over the field events will also include junior Ameila Bohl and Reese Brasseaux. On March 22, 2025, Bohl finished ninth in the discus throw (31.69 m).
Brasseaux's best completion was 13th, at 29.30 m in the hammer throw at the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Ready for the season, sophomore Geda Brewster and Laken Day will be opening their sophomore campaign strong at the Mississippi College Spring Classic on March 7.
Day also had a successful tournament last April, where she found herself placing 14th in the javelin throw.
Competing in their first outdoor season will be freshman Katie Brown and Sarah Grace Hoggatt. Brown just finished her first season indoors, where she placed 10th in the high jump.
Sophomore Taylor Sutton and senior Tayler Gonzales will also look to make an impact on the team.
Racing and competing on the men's side, the Majors will have 16 athletes ready for the upcoming outdoor season.
Leading the program in the right direction as veterans' juniors Greer Hernandez and Carter Davis.
Hernandez is coming off an SAA honorable mention performance in the indoor season, where he placed in multiple events.
He finished third in the 3000 meters and 4th in the 5000 meters at the SAA indoor championship.
Davis' best finish came in April of 2025, where he finished 15th in the hammer throw.
The only other major returners are Phillip Antis and Dillon Duley finished 26th in the SAA shutout just a few weeks ago, while Antis' last track race was the last SAA outdoor championship, where he finished 11th in the 400m.
The new faces to the team come in bunches, including Cameron Anderson, Mason Castleberry, Michael Cosgriff, Frederick Fluker jr., Luke LeFors, Nick Price, Dallas Stricker, Benjamin Sylve, Jabari Watson, Wyatt Wheeler, and Sean Wyers.
These freshman did have a big impact though in their first ever indoor season.
Price led the freshman sprinters, where he ran in both the 60 m and 200 m. Price's most impressive race was at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational where he finished 23rd.
Wheeler added depth in the longer sprint events, competing in the 400 meters at the 2026 SAA Indoor Track and Field Championships where he finished 26th.
In the middle-distance events, Sylve competed in the 800 meters, recording a 23rd place finish.
Fluker Jr. jumped in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2026 SAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Fluker finished 8th with a time of 9.02.
Wyers led the throwers when he competed in the weight throw at the SAA Indoor Championships, throwing 11.18 meters and placing 27th.
Lastly, Cosgriff also competed in both throwing events. Cosgriff recorded a mark of 11.00 meters in the shot put and 10.66 meters in the weight throw at the SAA Indoor Championships, finishing 25th and 29th, respectively.
