Shreveport, LA – The Millsaps Women's Basketball Team lost their first game of the season earlier today against Centenary College by a score of 54-46.
The Majors first game of the SCAC/SAA Classic against Centenary in the Gold Dome also doubled as their first road matchup on the year. After starting the game leading 15-14 in the first quarter, the Majors were outscored 13-3 in the second en route to a 54-46-road loss.
Despite leading Centenary in points off turnovers, bench points and points in the paint, the Majors fell in today's contest where they shot 24 percent from the field and 16 percent on three-pointers.
Trailing 27-18 at the half, the Majors began a come from behind rally. Down by ten late in the third quarter, Majors freshman
Marissa Taylor made a layup to cut the Centenary lead to single digits. From there, the Majors scored four straight points and forced several turnovers to eventually tie the game 44-44 midway through the fourth quarter.
Centenary, however, would score nine unanswered points in the final minutes of the game to earn their second victory of the season and improve to 2-1. The Majors fall to 2-1 as today's game marks their first loss on the year.

Kala-Jewel Freeman with nine each. Senior
Miah Brooks totaled seven points for the contest while
Marissa Taylor,
Keyerra Jordan and
Braxton Thomas scored six each.
Millsaps will look to rebound tomorrow in the second game of the SCAC/SAA Challenge against Austin. The Majors face the Roos in another game played in Shreveport at the Gold Dome tomorrow morning, Nov. 22 at 11 am.
