Sewanee, TN – The Millsaps Women's Tennis team fell to Sewanee in the final contest of a two-match weekend road trip.
The Tigers, who are ranked 10th nationally (itatennis.com) improve to 15-5 (4-0) with the win while the Majors drop to 12-6 (2-3). The Tigers began the day with three wins in doubles play and later secured the match in singles.
Sewanee earned wins at the doubles one and three spots to begin the day. At the two spot, the Tigers earned a tough win in a hard fought match against the duo of
Reya Hayek and
Mary Claiborne-Sharpe, 8-4.
Sewanee held an early 3-0 lead and never looked back. The Tigers secured wins at the singles one and two spots to clinch the match and later secured victories at the five and six spots to close out the match.
Now at 12-6, the Majors will look to rebound with a pair of home matches next weekend.
Rhodes and Hendrix will travel to Millsaps for the final regular season matches of the year for Women's Tennis. First up is a match with Rhodes Saturday, April 16th. Play against the Lynx is set to begin at 9:00 am.
