Collierville, TN – The Millsaps Softball team advanced in the second day of SAA Tournament play by defeating Sewanee by a score of 10-0 in five innings.
Facing elimination, the Majors responded by leading throughout Saturday morning's contest en route to a ten run victory. The three seeded Majors will now face Hendrix, who lost to Birmingham Southern Friday night, for another elimination matchup this afternoon at 2:00 pm.
Starting pitcher
Mary Claire Shepard earned her fourth win of the season pitching five scoreless innings giving up three hits and striking out three.
The Majors took an early lead scoring twice in the first – and never looked back. Millsaps scored once in the second, four times in the third and three times in the fourth to secure the conference tournament win.
Second baseman
Megan Murray led the game with a season high five RBIs. She – along with
Rayne Gravat – also led in hits with three.
Missy Romero totaled two hits while
Kat Romero,
Rayner LeBlanc and
MK Bozeman each recorded one. Overall, the Majors completed the game with ten runs on 11 hits and two errors.

Today's game marks the 22nd victory of the season for the Majors, as they will look to continue the positive momentum against Hendrix later today. First pitch for the three/five seed matchup between the Majors and Warriors is set to begin at 2:00 pm from Collierville, Tennessee.
