Murfreesboro, TN – The Millsaps Women's Tennis team fell in the first day of the SAA Tournament to Centre by a score of 6-1.
The sixth seeded Colonels secured the upset win over the three seeded Majors in the opening day of conference tournament play at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Majors complete the season with an overall record of 14-7 and 4-3 in conference play.
Centre took a 3-0 lead after winning all three doubles matchups. The Colonels then secured the match in singles play to advance to the semifinals tomorrow.
The match was highlighted by
Audrey Bennett's win at the singles two spot. The freshman secured the single victory for Millsaps securing a convincing win in two sets 6-3 and 6-1.
The contest concluded with the five and six spot matches listed unfinished, as Centre had already secured the needed wins for an overall victory.
Millsaps Women's Tennis ends the season at 14-7 as
Anna Brahce will graduate following an outstanding career with the Majors both on and off the court of play. With a great precedent set from the senior leadership, the Majors will look to continue to build from the successful 2016 moving into next year and beyond.
