Jackson, MS - The Millsaps Softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Mississippi College by scores of 9-1 and 7-0 on Wednesday.
The midweek local matchup marks the final time the Choctaws and Majors faceoff this season, as Mississippi College led throughout both games. With the pair of losses, Millsaps drops to 18-16 while Mississippi College improves to 28-12.
First baseman
Rayne Gravat recorded the lone RBI for Millsaps on an RBI single in game one. After falling behind 3-0 in the first, the Majors answered when
Missy Romero reached first on a single through the right side.
Catcher
Rayner LeBlanc then singled giving Gravat an opportune at-bat with runners in scoring position. Gravat delivered with an RBI single to put the Majors on the board.
Mississippi College, however, answered adding to their lead in the second – and never looked back. The Majors completed the first game with a run on four hits and an error while the Choctaws scored nine runs on 12 hits and an error.
The second game began much like the first, with Mississippi College scoring three runs in the opening frame. The Choctaws took an early lead and never looked back - finishing the second game with seven runs on 11 hits and an error.

Missy Romero led the Majors in hits for the day with two each.
Sarah Scales and
Rayner LeBlanc also recorded a hit as
Rayne Gravat recorded the game one RBI.
Now at 18-16, the Majors will look to quickly rebound with the final regular season conference home series this weekend. Millsaps Softball hosts Berry for a three-game series starting with a double header on Saturday, April 9th.
