Danville, KY – The Millsaps Women's Tennis team fell to Centre on the road by a score of 8-1.
Saturday's contest is the first of two matches this weekend, as the Women's Tennis team will face another road matchup tomorrow. The Colonels began the day with three wins in doubles play and later clinched the match in singles. With the win, Centre improves to 8-4 (3-1) while Millsaps falls to 12-5 (2-2).
The duo of
Ashley Ford and
Jordyn Kanak fell at the doubles one spot in a hard fought match 9-7. Centre earned wins of 8-4 and 8-3 at the two and three spots to hold a 3-0 heading into singles play.
Centre clinched the match with wins at the one, two, three and four spots. At the singles four spot,
Tori Barbier competed for an intense three set match. Barbier earned a first set win 6-4, but her opponent responded in the second. In the third and final set, Centre earned the tough win by a score of 10-6. The Colonels later completed the day of play with wins at the five and six spots.
Now at 12-5, the Majors will look to quickly rebound with another conference matchup on the road. Millsaps Women's Tennis faces Sewanee in Tennessee tomorrow, April 10th. Opening play between the Tigers and Majors is set for 10:00 am.
