HILTON HEAD, S.C. (Mar. 14, 2017) – Millsaps College had three strong performances in doubles play and rode that momentum to a 9-0 sweep of Agnes Scott College in women's tennis play this afternoon in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The victory was the third in a row for the Majors, with freshman
Rachel Beck (Metairie, La.) picking up the match-clinching win in singles play.
A trio of solid wins in doubles started the day off for Millsaps (7-3). Junior
Reya Hayek (Greenville, Miss.) and freshman
Natalie Toups (Baton Rouge, La.) got things stared with an 8-3 decision in their No. 3 match, with junior
Ashley Ford (Spicewood, Texas) and freshman
Maggie Dabadie (Baton Rouge, La.) polishing off the sweep with an 8-2 decision in the No. 1 contest.
Moving on to singles the Majors quickly put the match away with a pair of straight sets wins at Nos. 4 and 3. At No. 3, junior
Mary Claiborne-Sharpe (Brownsville, Tenn.) place Millsaps within a point of the win with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Beck then clinched it for the Majors, cruising past Taylor Lee by a 6-2, 6-2 score.
Agnes Scott (2-3) tried to get on the scoreboard in the Nos. 1 and 2 matches, taking the first set in each 6-4. But each Millsaps came back to take the victories. At No. 1 it was Dabadie coming back to claim a 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 win, with sophomore
Jordyn Kanak (Austin, Texas) claiming a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 decision at No. 2 to make it 7-0.

Tori Barbier (Metairie, La.) completed the sweep for Millsaps, with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 wins respectively at Nos. 5 and 6.
Millsaps will continue it spring break visit to Hilton Head tomorrow when the Majors will play Stockton University at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
