Rome, Ga. (Apr. 15, 2017) – After falling behind in doubles play, the Millsaps College women's tennis team came back to win five of six singles matches to come away with a 6-3 win over Berry College in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.
Ranked No. 20 in the region, Berry (8-8, 2-5 SAA) came out in doubles play and took the Nos. 2 and 3 matches by scores of 8-1 and 8-5 to put a pair of points on the board for the Vikings. Millsaps, ranked No. 15, (14-6, 4-3 SAA) avoided a doubles sweep in the No. 1 match where its ninth-ranked team of junior

Maggie Dabadie (New Orleans, La.) picked up an 8-5 win for the Majors over the regions No. 15 squad of Mary Cerny and Lauren Byrket.
Millsaps came out in singles play and picked up wins at in the top three flights to take the lead in the match. At Nos. 1 and 2 the Majors held off second set comeback attempts by Berry. In the No. 1 contest Ford picked up a 6-1, 7-5 victory while at No. 2 it was Dabadie that scored a 6-3, 7-5 win. Sophomore
Jordyn Kanak (Austin, Texas) held off her opponent in the first set and came away with a 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3 for Millsaps.
Berry scored a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4, making it 4-3 in favor of Millsaps with the bottom two flights still to be decided. A three-set match at No. 5 clinched it for the Majors; with sophomore
Tori Barbier (Metairie, La.) coming back from a first set loss to score a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory. At No. 6 freshman
Natalie Toups (Baton Rouge, La.) finished things off with a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win.
Millsaps will now prepare for the SAA Championships, which begin next week in Little Rock, Ark.
