CONWAY, Ark. (Apr. 2, 2017) – For a second straight day the No. 14 regionally ranked Millsaps College women's tennis team took on another regionally ranked opponent; with the result the same for the Majors who took a 7-2 win over No. 18 Hendrix College. The victory keeps Millsaps undefeated in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play at 3-0.
Millsaps (13-3, 3-0 SAA) took two of three doubles matches from Hendrix (9-4, 1-2 SAA), taking an early lead in the contest. The No. 1 team of junior
Ashley Ford (Austin, Texas) and freshman
Maggie Dabadie (Baton Rouge, La.), along with the No. 3 team of junior
Reya Hayek (Greenville, Miss.) and freshman
Natalie Toups (Baton Rouge, La.), both won 8-1 to give the Majors a point advantage heading into singles play.
Hayek scored the first point in singles play for Millsaps, winning a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 5 that was followed by junior
Ashley Ford (Austin, Texas) taking a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 to put the Majors within a point of taking the match.

Mary Claiborne-Sharpe (Brownsville, Tenn.) then clinched it for Millsaps, coming from behind after a first set loss to defeat Sarah Walker, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0, giving the Majors their ninth straight win. Also picking up victories for Millsaps were Dabadie at No. 2, where she also came back from a first set loss to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, and sophomore
Tori Barbier (Metairie, La.) who took a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Millsaps will return home for its next match, hosting SAA rival Centre College on Saturday, April 8 starting at 9:00 a.m. on the Coach Montgomery Courts.
