JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College women's tennis team remained perfect on the 2018 season with an 8-1 win over Blue Mountain College on Thursday afternoon. The Majors held a 3-0 lead after doubles play, and quickly clinched their win during the singles action.
In doubles play
Grace Gaskins and
Maggie Dabadie kicked things off by posting an 8-1 win at #1. The #2 doubles team of
Reya Hayek and
Jillian Sandoz was not far behind with an 8-1 win of their own, and
Jordyn Kanak and
Natalie Toups closed things out with an 8-3 win to give the Majors a 3-0 advantage.
At #1 singles
Morgan Jenkins scored a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Hayek clinched the match for the Majors with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #4.
Ella Shields took #2 with by a score of 6-1, 6-2, and Toups scored a win at #6 to make it 7-0 Millsaps.
Tori Barbier picked up the eighth point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #5.
Next up, the Majors hit the road for the first time in 2018. Millsaps travels to Texas this weekend for a match with Southwestern on Saturday and Austin College on Sunday.
