RICHARDSON, Texas – The Millsaps College women's tennis team continued their road-trip in Texas with a match against Austin College on Sunday. The Majors found themselves down 2-1 after doubles play, but came back in singles to grab the 5-4 win.
Grace Gaskins and
Maggie Dabadie scored a win at #2 doubles for Millsaps, but unfortunately Austin College took the other two doubles matches and held an early 2-1 lead.
As the match moved into singles play,
Jordyn Kanak tied things up at 2-2 with her 6-5, 6-2 win at #5. Gaskins grabbed a 6-0, 6-3 win at #1, and Dabadie followed it up with a 6-4, 6-4 win at #2 to give the Majors the 4-3 advantage.
Ella Shields clinched the match at #4 with her 6-2, 6-5 win.
Despite Austin College taking the remaining singles matches, Millsaps got the win. The Majors have now improved their record to 3-1 on the year.
Next up, are two more road matches for Millsaps. The Majors travel to Memphis this weekend where they will play Depauw and Christian Brothers University.
