SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps College women's tennis team played their final road SAA match of this season on Saturday when they traveled to take on Sewanee. The Tigers came in as the #11 team in the national rankings, and left no doubt why as they knocked off the Majors 9-0.
The Tigers swept through doubles play to carry a 3-0 lead into singles action. In the #1 doubles match
Grace Gaskins and
Ashley Ford fell to the Clementina Davila and Catherine Owen who are the #3 ranked doubles pair in the region.
The singles lineup for Sewanee boasted four different regionally ranked players. In the #1 match Gaskins fought for three tightly-contested sets before eventually falling 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.
What's Next?
Millsaps will finish out the remainder of their 2018 season at home. Next up is a pair of weekend SAA matches at Coach Montgomery Courts. The Majors will host Berry on Saturday and Oglethorpe on Sunday.
