JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College women's tennis team was back home on Sunday afternoon as the Majors welcomed the Huntingdon College Hawks to Coach Montgomery Courts for a non-conference match. The Majors improve to 5-2 on the year, and they hand the Hawks their first loss of the season. Huntingdon falls to 5-1 overall.
Huntingdon actually got the first win of the day at #2 doubles, but Millsaps rebounded as
Grace Gaskins and
Maggie Dabadie knocked off their opponent 8-4 at #1.
Jordyn Kanak and
Natalie Toups followed that up with an 8-4 win at #3 to give the Majors the 2-1 lead.
Gaskins is the reigning SAA Player of the Week, and she showed why as she quickly beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at #1 singles to get things going. Huntingdon got their second point at #3, but from then on it was all Millsaps. Toups picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at #6, and
Ella Shields clinched the match at #2 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Jillian Sandoz scored a 6-4. 6-0 win at #4, and
