ATLANTA – The Southern Athletic Association released its first-ever softball preseason poll on Thursday, with Millsaps softball projected to finish third following an 18-game conference regular season.
The league's coaches voted on the poll predicting the season's eventual order of finish 1-8. A first-place vote garnered a team eight points, a second-place vote netted them seven points, a third-place vote six and so on.
Birmingham-Southern topped the poll with 46 points and five first-place votes, Berry tallied 44 points with two first-place votes and Millsaps finished behind with 34 points.
The Majors open their season at home on Saturday, hosting Centenary College in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. Live video and live stats are available at gomajors.com.
